Ohio Valley Medical Center will sponsor a special Bioterrorism Continuing Medical Education Symposium on Thursday, February 8, 2007. The conference will be held from 4:30-7:00pm at OVMC’s Nurses Residence, Auditorium. The program is part of OVMC’S CME Lecture Series.
Presenters for the 2007 Bioterrorism Symposium include:

• Barbara J. Connors, DO, MPH, Chief Medical Officer, Region III Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services.

• Joe E. Richards, CEO, West Virginia Emergency Medical Services Technical Support Network.

• Allisynne M. Dunlap, Program Director, WV EMS TSN, Inc.

• Lou Vargo, Deputy Director, Wheeling-Ohio County Emergency Management Agency.

• Allen B. Simms, OVMC & East Ohio Regional Hospital Safety Director.

• Neal F. Aulick, II, MD, Director, Emergency Medicine Physicians & EMSTAR at OVMC/EORH.

• Wheeling Police Chief Kevin Gessler and Wheeling Fire Chief Steve Johnston.

Topics covered in the symposium will include: an introduction to bioterrorism; Nuclear, Biological & Chemical (NBC) incidents preparedness on the state level; Nuclear, Biological, & Chemical (NBC) preparedness on the local level; the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and decontamination equipment review; management of patients exposed to Nuclear, Biological & Chemical (NBC) agents and a panel discussion lead by Dr. Carlos Jimenez.
